Trivia: To help the actors prepare for their roles, director James Cameron took the cast and crew to Hawaii, where they spent their days trekking through the forests and jungles and living like tribes (building campfires, eating fish, etc), in order to get a better sense of what it would be like to live and move around in the jungle on Pandora, since there would not be any actual jungle sets to aid and guide the actors and crew. Zoe Saldana even dressed up as a warrior during these journeys, complete with an alien tail symbolic of the one her character has in the movie. These hikes were only done during the daytime, though; The cast and crew spent their nights at a Four Seasons hotel.

Goofs: Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Though it would seem Norm is standing next to his Avatar near the end of the movie (which would be physically impossible) we see multiple avatars with trousers and guns in the background. These are likely the other avatars we saw at the beginning of the movie.

Goofs: Continuity: As the B-1 bomber approaches its wings are forward. The next time you see it, the wings are swept back. As it leaves after dropping its bomb the wings are forward again.

Goofs: Continuity: If you look out of the car window on the driver’s side (at roughly the 3:18 mark) just after Neville grabs his gun, you will see a silver and red car parked (silver on left, red on right). Neville continues driving down the road and away from the parked cars, but at around the 4:00 mark, when you get another clear shot out his window (over his shoulder), you can see the same two cars parked, yet he is not in the same area where they first appeared.

Michael Riva took inspiration from the photographs of Julius Schulman, who was noted for photographs of 1950s and 1960s Los Angeles homes.

Goofs: Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When Yinsen asks Tony Stark about the first arc discharge reactors capacity, Stark gives it in gigajoules per second. From this Yinsen calculates that it could sustain his heart for fifty lifetimes. This deduction is impossible, as total running time of a device requires knowledge of total energy produced and not just instantaneous power which Joules per second describes. However, this is not a goof, as Yinsen may have seen some calculations of Stark’s and with this new information, reached his conclusion.
